A disposable apron is a single-use PPE item that must be worn to protect yourself and your work clothes.  You should wear it to prevent the transfer of harmful substances and bodily fluids from coming into contact with you.

Tiger Supplies’ disposable plastic aprons are ideal for standard precautions. They help you remain clean and minimise the risk of cross-contamination at the workplace.

Our aprons are impervious to bacteria and fluids. They protect the areas of maximum potential contamination on the front of your body.

The Disposable Apron 10 Micron creates a superb barrier to spills, dirt, and germs. It’s  resistant to liquids. Thus, wearing one is an effective defence against the transfer of fluids. We offer a pack of 100 items made in accordance with European Personal Protective Equipment Directive 89/686/EEC.

You will find them suitable for work in a wide range of professional settings including

  • Medical procedures and First aid
  • Dentistry
  • Food processing and Catering
  • Cleaning
  • Animal care

In medical and care applications, disposable aprons should be worn when:

  • Performing an aseptic technique
  • Decontaminating care equipment and the care environment
  • Treating a patient with a suspected infection
  • Exposing yourself to bodily fluids, mucous membranes, non-intact skin
  • You run the risk of splashing or soiling the front of your work clothes

Procedure for putting on a disposable apron in a medical setting:

  1. Wash your hands
  2. Take an apron from the dispenser and open it outwards.
  3. Make sure the inner surface of the apron is facing the patients to prevent any contamination on its outer surface from coming into contact with them
  4. Put the loop around your neck
  5. Ensure the apron covers as much of the front of your body as possible
  6. Tie the waist straps behind your back to fix the apron in place

After use:

  • Remove your apron carefully without touching the outer surface:
    1. Break the neck loop and waist straps
    2. Make sure the contaminated surface is folded inwards by rolling the apron downwards from your chest.

  • Contaminated aprons should be discarded immediately and disposed of in a hazardous waste bin
  • Wash your hands after removing and disposing of your apron
  • Change aprons if you are going to perform another task

Some workplaces have a colour-coding scheme in place for cleaning materials and equipment.

The UK colour coding scheme for all NHS organisations requires the use of aprons of a specific colour for the corresponding task as follows:

RED Blue Green Yellow
Bathrooms,
showers, toilets,
basins and
bathroom floors
General areas
including wards,
departments,
