Our range of Marine Safety products includes a quality selection of Buoys and Floating Lines to ensure the safety of workers at sea and reduce the number of drownings of employees, employers, and the public in general.

The aim of maritime safety is to prevent injury and death to crew members and passengers aboard vessels, as well as to those in the vicinity of bodies of water. Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) are essential maritime safety products, which assist in the recovery of Persons in Water (PIWs).

Wearing a lifejacket or buoyancy aid appropriate to your activity can greatly improve your chances of surviving the shock of entering cold water,

Accidental drowning can be caused by the following problems:

  • There is no personal buoyancy equipment available
  • There is no rescue equipment available
  • Faulty buoyancy equipment
  • Lack of supervision and preparation
  • Ignoring, disregarding or misjudging hazards and not paying attention to weather forecasts.

The objective of maritime safety is to ensure the protection of people in circumstances where natural or accidental hazards exist. It is pertinent to note that these dangers can be more damaging than piracy, smuggling or other external threats if they are ignored by the ship’s crew.

Falling into cold water and swimming is a challenging task. Therefore, if there is a risk of falling into the water and drowning, staff should have sufficient buoyancy to keep individuals safely afloat.

That is why at Tiger Supplies, we offer Buoys and Floating Lines, which comply with international standards.

Our products comply with maritime standards, which are the accepted industry standards for maritime safety. These standards are assessed and enforced by the IMO (International Maritime Organization) and other organisations at an international, regional and national level.

The Orange Perry Buoy with Retro Tape has retro-reflective tape on both sides for improved visibility in low light and has synthetic-rope grab lines. This product has a superior life expectancy in the most severe environments and is SOLAS-compliant and European MED-approved.

The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) is an international treaty signed by 160 countries that adhere to its current version. SOLAS involves several aspects of maritime safety, such as the existence and access to life-saving appliances including lifejackets.

MED stands for Marine Equipment Directive, which indicates the testing standards and certification for marine equipment in the European Union.

Another recommendation is our Metre Floating Line, which is ideal for attaching to perry buoys and life rings. Its rugged construction is suitable for storage outside in all weather conditions. This is a durable product made of polypropylene with a 640 kg maximum load.

Our range of marine safety also includes Life Jackets. If you cannot find what you are looking for, do not hesitate to contact us. Our sales representatives might be able to source exactly what you need.
