Sealants & Adhesives

Whether you are a painter, plumber, contractor, carpenter or just working on home improvement, our products will support your every need. Tiger Supplies stock sealants and adhesives to suit every customer’s needs. Ranging from decorators caulk to high strength adhesives to facilitate and support all customers regardless of their job.

Sealants/Silicones

These are substances used for sealing numerous surfaces.  Fashioning an air and water-tight seal, they are commonly used in bathrooms to seal showers, baths and other fittings including both window and door frames.

A sealant prevents fluids from passing through joints and gaps. Additionally, they stop dust, insects, sound, and air from entering openings. Sealants are often less strong and more flexible than traditional adhesives, although some can bond and fill at the same time. They are also sometimes referred to as ‘Mastics’.

Tiger Supplies’ multi-purpose sealants are water-repellent and can adhere to surfaces even when damp. We have options that can be painted over with certain paints and will not crack nor discolour over time in humid conditions.

With quick release triggers, our sealant guns have been designed to accept sealant and filler tubes so you can easily apply the product.

How to select the right sealant

When selecting the right sealant, you should consider how its properties could have an impact on the area you will work on:

  • Durability:  Sealants can last for a long time. They can have a life service of two decades, but only under ideal conditions. Sealants can fail due to poor surface preparation, moisture during or after application, and improper installation, among others. You must bear in mind that some acrylics and butyls rarely last longer than 5 years.
  • Hardness: The harder the sealant, the more resistant to damage it will be. But harder sealants tend to be less flexible.
  • Consistency: When working on horizontal joints, use pourable sealants. You should choose thicker sealants on vertical joints as they are less likely to run.
  • Adhesion: Read the product information to know how well your sealant will adhere to specific materials.
  • Exposure Resistance: Tiger Supplies’ high-performance sealants maintain their properties in the sun. Choose sealants that remain flexible in extreme temperatures and humidity levels.
  • Application: Consider the curing and tooling properties of your product.

Adhesives

The purpose of adhesives is to bond two materials together. We have extra tough and fast-acting adhesives, such as:

  • PVA glue: Milky white in their tubes and transparent when they dry, these adhesives are waterproof and excellent for humid areas. Our wood glues are useful as a joinery adhesive and have long-term moisture resistance. Tiger Supplies’ Gorilla PVA Wood Glue  is the adhesive that woodworkers, carpenters and hobbyists trust for their woodworking projects
  • Polyurethane adhesives: Perfect for filling gaps in wood, plaster, stone, and masonry.
  • Cyanoacrylates or Super-glues: These adhesives work fast and stick to various kinds of materials, like metal and plastic. Our Mitre Fast Bonding Kit is a two-part instant adhesive system comprising a cyanoacrylate adhesive and aerosol activator. It will come in handy when dealing with timber, rubber and PVC.

Caulks

Used by numerous decorators for a wide range of jobs, such as lining and sealing skirting boards. The drying time of caulk is generally between 20 minutes to two hours and can be painted over when dry.

Our caulks are acrylic and solvent-free.  This product cures to form a durable and flexible seal.

Foams

In many areas of daily work, construction foams are extremely versatile products. Most are polyurethane (PU) resin-based foams that cure when exposed to moisture.

Generally found in canisters with spray nozzles, foams have been designed to expand and harden upon contact with air. This characteristic makes them ideal for minor repairs around windows and doors to create a tight seal. In addition, they have a fast curing ability and effective adhesive properties.

Foams are useful for DIY projects. You will find them indispensable during home repairs. Economical, fast, and easy to use, foams are resistant to moisture, rot and mould.

Tiger Supplies’ foams provide up to 4 hours of fire resistance and effective insulation of façades. With excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties, they bond all standard building materials. Flame retardant options are also available.

Foam Applications

With foams you can:

  • Seal gaps around windows
  • Fill joints around door frames
  • Mount door frames
  • Seal joints in the walls that need fire protection
  • Create thermal insulation by bonding insulation boards
