Tiger Supplies’ wide range of first aid products includes a quality selection of First Aid Kit Refills.

According to the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, workplaces, such as construction sites, must have a first aid kit with sufficient equipment to cater for the number of workers on the site.

Assessments of first-aid needs in the workplace must be conducted by employers. As an employer, you should determine what equipment and facilities should be provided, and consider relevant factors, including workplace hazards and risks and the overall size of the organisation.

You should carry out risk assessments first to determine the contents of your first aid kit. But here are some items, which are essential in a basic first-aid kit when work activities are low-risk:

  • Disposable gloves
  • Sterile plasters
  • Eye pads
  • Bandages and dressings
  • HSE's leaflet with general guidance on first aid

It is advisable to have kits compliant with the British Standard (BS) 8599. This is not a legal requirement, but you should make sure your kit includes what you need.

Tiger Supplies offers First Aid Kits and First Aid Kit refills in line with the changes in workplace practices and risks. Our products are up to date with current workplace practices and the latest technology. Our kits ensure best practice is observed by complying with the British Standard (BS) 8599.

We offer BS8599-compliant Refill Kits for Small, Medium and Large First Aid Kits. In addition, you can find refill kits compatible with Mezzo First Aid Kits with the capacity to treat 20 or 50 people.

Our Saline Wound Cleansing Wipes come in a pack of 100 and are sterile and alcohol-free. This product meets current HSE Regulations, is suitable for all mandatory kits, and is safe for all skin types.

Tips for maintaining or replacing the contents of a first aid kit

Be sure to check kits regularly, as sterile items often have an expiry date. It is essential to replace expired products and dispose of them safely. Check the functionality of undated non-sterile items. It is advisable to check with the manufacturer to determine how long sterile items can be kept if they do not have an expiry date.

What to do in an emergency

If there is an emergency, you should take the following steps:

  • Step 1: Carry out the assessment of the situation
  • Step 2: Ensure the area safe
  • Step 3: Carry out the assessment of all casualties
  • Step 4: Send for immediate help

Make sure you record and send to RIDDOR all reportable incidents, injuries, diseases, and dangerous occurrences. In your record, include dates when reports are made, the date, time, and place of the event and do not forget to write the personal details of those involved.

At Tiger Supplies, you can also find Defibrillators, Burns Kits, and Drug and Alcohol Tests. For more information about dressings, bandages, and workplace first aid supplies, please contact our sales team at 0844 848 3444 or email us at sales@tiger-supplies.co.uk.
