First Aid Products

Our First Aid Kits and Accessories vary from ranges of fully stocked first aid kits, including individual components such as eye wash, plasters, bandages, scissors and tweezers in case of emergency.

According to the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, all construction sites should have the following:

  • A first aid box with enough equipment to cope with the number of workers on site
  • An appointed person to take charge of first-aid arrangements
  • Information telling workers the name of the designated person or first aider and where to find them (e.g. a notice in the site hut).

First Aid Kits

The HSE recommends including the following items in a basic first aid kit if work activities are low-risk:

  • Sterile plasters of different sizes- Make sure they are individually wrapped
  • Sterile eye pads and individually wrapped triangular bandages
  • Unmedicated wound dressings
  • Disposable gloves
  • HSE's leaflet with general guidance on first aid

But the HSE advises carrying out risk assessments first to determine the contents of your first aid kit.

Look for British Standard (BS) 8599 when purchasing a kit. It's not a legal requirement for your kit to meet this standard, but you should make sure it includes what you need.

Tiger Supplies’ range of first aid products is in line with the changes in workplace practices and risks. Our products are up to date with current workplace practices and the latest technology. Our kits ensure best practice is observed by complying with the British Standard (BS) 8599.

By choosing a BS8599-1-compliant kit, you can ensure that the kit meets the requirements set by law and matches your risk assessment. In order to demonstrate compliance with the Health and Safety First Aid Regulations, employers can provide kits with this updated content.

Burns Kits

Burns can be caused by direct heat, chemical burns and radiological burns. If the BSA (Body Surface Area) of a burn exceeds 15% in adults, they will have to be hospitalised for intravenous fluid resuscitation as vital organs may have been compromised.

Burns may cause swelling, blisters, white or charred skin, or red or peeling skin. It is important to pay attention to these injuries as you may not feel pain in some cases. There is no correlation between the amount of pain you feel and the severity of the burn. Some burns are relatively painless, even if they are very serious.

The term "scalping" refers to the traumatic separation of the skin from the head as a result of an accident. Neither lacerations nor surgical procedures involving deliberate removal of skin are included.

We offer different sizes of Burn Kits and dressings so that you are ready to deal with this kind of injury

Tips for maintaining or replacing the contents of a first aid kit

Be sure to check kits regularly, as sterile items often have an expiry date. It is essential to replace expired products and dispose of them safely. It is advisable to check with the manufacturer to determine how long sterile items can be kept if they do not have an expiry date. Check the functionality of undated non-sterile items.
