Cold Protection Gloves are winter essentials providing protection against heat loss. Our range of thermal gloves has been designed to keep your hands warm whilst working outdoors in cold weather.

Although wind chill is common in cold climates, it is low temperatures that pose the greatest danger to body heat balance. The appropriate adjustment of thermal accessories, such as Thermal Hats and Thermal Gloves, can often control and regulate body heat loss to balance changes in the ambient climate.

Cold Protection Gloves help you prevent cold stress, which is the decrease in skin temperature and the body's internal temperature. Cold stress can cause serious cold-related ailments and injuries, which can lead to permanent tissue damage and death.

Tiger Supplies’ thermal gloves protect from the cold resulting from climatic conditions or industrial activities. They usually have a soft lining, such as a fleece lining, and a waterproof membrane with water repellent technology to keep hands warm and dry in cold working conditions.

Our range of thermal gloves includes Thinsulate gloves. Thinsulate is the brand name for synthetic fibre thermal insulation used in clothing. The fabric of these gloves has gaps between fibres, which reduce the heat flow and allow moisture to escape. This property is beneficial as it retains body heat that provides comfortable warmth whilst allowing sweat to evaporate. Thus, these gloves are suitable for outdoor winter activities.

Tiger Supplies’ thermal gloves provide great dexterity and an excellent grip. Our designs are ideal for a variety of industries and applications, including

  • Automotive
  • Manufacturing
  • Engineering
  • Transport
  • Warehousing

Some designs have been specifically manufactured to protect the hands from damp environments and against detergents and alcohol. But generally, our gloves are abrasion and tear-resistant and comply with several international standards:

  • EN 388 – Protective gloves against mechanical risks
  • EN 420 – General requirements and test methods for protective gloves including protection from ionising radiation and radioactive contamination
  • EN 511 – Protective gloves against cold environments

The EN 388 European Standard is a widely-recognised standard that protective gloves are usually tested against across several industries. According to this standard, protective gloves should meet certain requirements related to:

  • Cut resistance
  • Abrasion resistance
  • Tearing strength
  • Puncture resistance
  • Impact protection

According to the EN 420 standard, safety gloves are classified into three categories:

  • Category I refers to safety gloves that offer minimal protection but have good heat resistance, such as gloves used for cleaning and gardening.
  • Category II refers to safety gloves that protect against intermediate risks, those hazards that are not considered mortal. Category II gloves must have a good puncture and abrasion performance.
  • Category II gloves are manufactured to protect against mortal risks, such as corrosive acids and other chemicals. These are cut-resistant gloves with more complex designs to protect the wearer against irreversible injuries.

The EN 511 standard indicates the requirements and test methods for thermal gloves. Thermal gloves conforming to this European Standard protect against convective and conductive cold down to –50 °C and have been tested for :

  • Mechanical performance
  • Flexibility
  • Water penetration
  • Extreme cold flexibility
  • Convective cold
  • Contact cold

We recommend that you read the product specification to select the cold-resistant work gloves that best suit your needs. We also offer Thermal Hats, Outdoor Jackets and Fleeces to protect you from cold working conditions.
